SHARON – Sonny Parker, Mighty Cubs executive director, donated 350 pairs of socks for the victims in the Christmas fire as part of the Sharon youth organization’s sock drive.
Pastor Chad Jeremy Bogdewic, of Sharpsville First United Methodist Church, has been collecting donations for victims of the Sharon apartment fire on Christmas. More than 70 people were displaced in the fire.
Parker, on behalf of his non-profit organization, cooperates with three schools and now mentors more than 40 students.
Starting before the holidays and continuing into the new year, Mighty Cubs donated 350 pairs of socks to the Sharpsville School District, 250 pairs to Case Avenue Elementary School in Sharon, 350 pairs to Crossroads Inc., 200 pairs to Prince of Peace Center in Farrell, and 200 pairs to the Hermitage YMCA, Parker said. The organization will continue to donate until 5,000 pairs are distributed. They will also donate socks to needy people.
“I’m going to continue doing sock donation, and there’s no one really out there donating undergarments,” Parker said.
