ESPN to air 3 of Cubs’ 1st 5 games in 2019

Despite a quick exit from the 2018 postseason, the Cubs have maintained their national popularity.

ESPN announced Monday it will carry three of the Cubs’ first five regular-season games in 2019: March 31 against the Rangers at 3 p.m. and April 1 and 3 against the Braves, both at 6 p.m. All three are road games.

The April 1 game will be preceded on ESPN by the White Sox-Indians game in Cleveland at 3 p.m.

The Cubs open the season March 28 against the Rangers in the final season at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. The Cubs’ home opener is scheduled for April 8 against the Pirates at 1:20 p.m.
