
Cubs prospect Nico Hoerner went 1-for-2, and his West team rallied with two runs in the ninth for a 7-6 victory in the AFL Fall Stars Game at Surprise Stadium in Arizona.
White Sox prospect Luis Robert, the designated hitter for the West, went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
Hoerner, the Cubs’ top pick in the June amateur draft, entered the game in the fifth inning as a defensive replacement at third base. He singled to center in the seventh off Dodgers prospect Jordan Sheffield and grounded out to second in the ninth.
Cubs minor-league reliever Bailey Clark allowed two runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning in the fourth, although one scored on catcher Daulton Varsho’s passed ball.
